The City of Campeche, is located in the southern part of the Mexican Republic, with tropical climate, and an annual average temperature of 26ºC. This old trading port, preserves the vestiges of a fortification wall (with two main doors one to the open sea and the other to the mainland), two forts (one of them lodges an important museum) and seven BALUARTES (that today operate as museums and exhibit forums). These monuments, as well as the cathedral and the Temple to Guadalupe allowed this city to be declared as patrimony of mankind in the year 2002 by the UNESCO.
During your stay, visit the Mayan Culture Museum, located in the Fort of San Miguel; the Museum of the Mayan Stella’s, located in the Fortification of the Solitude and the Fort of San Pedro. At sunset you should not miss the light and sound show that is offered at the Fort of Saint Joseph the Tall. We also suggest for a walk on the pebbled streets of the historic downtown area, where magic and history blend!
